Trip Reports

Kayak/Canoe Grand Teton National Park
By Pam Stalnaker
BOATING 08/21/2014 Class I

This is a trip report for a trip that didn't happen! First, our organizer Kathy had a family emergency that kept her from going at all. The other attendees were my husband Kevin, my son Mark, Martin Beumer, and Kelly Beumer. We ended up at Gros Ventre campground on Thursday night, but the rain started early and kept on going. All the park rangers and volunteers we talked to were amazed at how cold it was and how much rain they had. The rain kept on all night, stopping just long enough for us to decide that the cold weather and solid rain was just too much for wilderness camping. We hoped we would be able to at least day trip on Friday or Saturday, but the rain and cold temperatures kept up.

We had some nice discussions under the big yellow tarp we brought, but there wasn't much going on the water. Maybe next year!
