Maple Canyon Climb and Camping Trip
By Kristin Thomas
CLIMBING 07/17/2015 MOD

In July, a group of 12 climbers camped out for the weekend at Maple Canyon and climbed all weekend. Some of the group arrived on Friday and got in 3 days of climbing. Maple Canyon is located South of Salt Lake City, near Fountain Green. Maple Canyon is conglomerate rock with embedded, rounded clasts ranging in size from pebbles to boulders. The walls have a wide range of holds from bombers to slopers, making the climbing unique and challenging. Mostly sport climbing with a very little trad.

The group hit Orangutan Wall, Birthday Corridor, Billy the Kid Wall, Road Kill Wall, Engagement Wall, and a few of the group did some multi-pitch climbs at Dizzy Channel. We had a wide range of skill sets in the group which made for a fun weekend.

We had about 9 tents in the group campsite and had some nice campfires, starry night walks, grilled out a ton of food and had a great time!
