backpack hike dark canyon - April 21, 2007
We will drive down to the trailhead in southern Utah - north of Natural Bridges National Monument - on Saturday, 21st of April. On Sunday we will begin a 4 or 5 day backpack into Dark Canyon (Manti-La Sal National Forest), descending via Woodenshoe and ascending via Horse Pasture Canyon. After the backpack, the leader will remain and do day hikes in the area, returning Sunday. This is a beautiful, high altitude, remote area with archeological sites and sandstone formations. Distance for backpack is approximately 35 miles; camps depend on where we find water. Contact Jaynee for more information.
