boating green river paddle - August 30, 2007

This may be the prettiest flatwater river float in canyon country! We will be shuttled from Moab to our put-in at Crystal Geyser (3 miles below I-70) and will paddle 118 river miles to Spanish Bottom in Labyrinth and Stillwater Canyons. From our take-out we will be jet-boat shuttled back to Moab. This trip is designed with hiking in mind, so we will paddle 0 to 17 miles per day, depending on our hiking plans. Most of our hiking will be done in the latter portion of our trip, such as hikes to the Maze and to the White Crack of Canyonlands National Park. This will be my fourth float down the Green River. This paddle is a flatwater trip with a couple of minor rapids, and is suitable for just about any sort of reliable non-motorized watercraft. The NPS permit fee of $20 will be shared equally by the group. Please visit www.texsriverways.com for shuttle fees and rental fees for anyone wishing to rent a boat from them. The shuttle reservation is in the leader's name, and paddlers will need to send the leader a $50 deposit to reserve a spot. Once paid, this deposit applies toward your shuttle fees. It reserves your spot on this trip and is non-refundable unless an acceptable replacement can be found for the cancellation. This trip is limited to six paddlers.
