hike antelope island - January 13, 2007
Robert Turner (r46turner@uofu.net or 801-544-0605) plans a loop hike of about 8 miles, with not much elevation gain. He says that winter is a great time to visit the island: lots of wildlife, but almost no people-a real opportunity for solitude in a spectacular setting only a few miles away from about a million people. The hike will go rain, snow, or shine; the weather is part of the adventure. Meet at 10:30 AM in the parking lot by the entrance booth at the beginning of the causeway. To get there, take I-15 exit #332 and go west 7 miles. We'll car pool from there to the island, sharing the $9 per car entrance fee. Dogs on leashes are allowed.
