day hike dry creek canyon trail - October 14, 2007
This week we are doing a 'Happy Valley' hike. The trail starts in the foothills above Alpine. Alpine is north of American Fork Canyon. The trail takes us up Dry Creek Canyon, to the ridgeline below Box Elder Peak. At the ridgeline, we will enjoy very nice views of Box Elder Peak and American Fork Canyon. APPROXIMATE HIKING MILES: 'Topo says' 6 miles round-trip. DIFFICULTY: Mod+ ELEVATION GAIN: 2,500 feet LUNCH ON THE RIDGELINE: Bring a lunch and plenty of water. Weather should be nice on Sunday, 65 and partly cloudy. From Interstate 15, take the 7200 South exit and go east. The Park-n-Ride is next to the freeway and McDonald's. From the parking lot, lets carpool and help your driver with gas money. With the drive to Alpine, please plan on a longer day. DRIVERS: If we have a large number of hikers, please consider being one of the carpool drivers. QUESTIONS: Steve 631-4222 or Conley 232-3452 'Our long term goal is to hike all the trails along the Wasatch Front, so don't miss this exciting trail adventure!' Steve Baker
