car camp hike fish springs range - April 26, 2008
The jagged ridge of the Fish Springs Range rises to the west of the Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge on the south side of the Salt Flats. On Saturday we'll do an exploratory hike to the high point of the range, then we'll visit the springs to experience the amazing bird life. (Too bad the rusted-out bus at the hot springs is gone!) On Sunday we'll choose an appropriate hike such as Tatow Knob in the House Range or Topaz Mountain before heading back to Salt Lake. You should expect exploratory cross-country hiking and scrambling with route-finding in a gloriously remote area of Utah.
