canoe boating bear river, tremonton to elwood - July 20, 2008
From I-15 North take exit 376 marked Tremonton, Route 13. Turn right onto Route 13 for two miles. Turn right onto Route 102 and continue for 1.4 miles. The put in is at the bottom of the hill on the right after crossing the Bear. It is marked by a boat launch sign. About 1 1/2 hour drive from Salt Lake City. The river winds for about five miles through farmland with views of the Wasatch Mountain foothills. It is an easy float and appropriate for kayaks, canoes and inflatables. Novice paddlers welcome. Great for bird watching. We do not provide boats but they can be rented from Sidsports (261-0300) or REI.
