climbing introduction to climbing course & self rescue skills - April 25, 2009

The WMC offers COVID conscious opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Participants of all in-person events should bring and wear face coverings, expect social distancing, and changes to our usual practices. To support contact tracing and hands-free signing of the WMC Liability Waiver, online registration is required for all in person WMC events.
This is a basic rock climbing course. You will be introduced to the gear and how to safely use it, including belaying, knots, communication while climbing and basic climbing techniques. You will need to have a harness and climbing shoes. A helmet is nice but if you don't have one we should have some on hand. Snug fitting hiking boots or sneakers will do instead of climbing shoes if you wish. Loose fitting clothing and layers is recommended. Dress for cool conditions. You can rent the harness and shoes at REI. There is a $15 fee for members and a $20 fee for non members. We will break for lunch around 12 noon then move into a 2-3 hour introduction into climbing self rescue.
