kayak/canoe boating evening paddle on the jordan river - August 5, 2009
We will run a new section this week. We will put in at about 14400 South and take out at 12300 South. The water level is low so expect to get stuck on gravel bars and make quick turns on narrow channels. It is a beautiful section with hardly any riverside development. Both times I ran it this year I saw two fawns. To reach the put in, take I-15 south to Exit 288, Draper, Bluffdale 14600 South. Turn right and go west 1.3 miles. Watch for sharp turns and a narrow one-lane wide railroad underpass. Turn right onto Spring View Parkway, 1160 West. Follow this road until you reach a traffic circle with a fountain in the center. Park near the circle. You won't see the river, but the put in is just a short walk around the corner from there.
