climbing ambush wall 5.7 miles up big cottonwood canyon - May 14, 2009
Thursday's climb, 14 May, is changed to Ambush Wall in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Ambush Wall is 5.7 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon from the tall flashing neon sign (the sign is at the park'n ride and restrooms at the mouth of the canyon, the sign is only lit in the winter). The Ambush Wall trailhead is at the second Mineral Slab avalanche sign on the north side of the road. The sign faces east. The climbs are only a three minute hike and can be seen through the pine trees from the road. Climbing is scheduled to start at 6 pm but early people are welcome to climb with us at 5:30. Don Vincent 801-281-3160. There is an annual $15 climbing fee to cover the cost of rope and anchor gear replacement. Contact the climb leader or Clark Richards (801-272-5642) cgrichards@aol.com or Peter Campbell (733-0313), wmc-alpinist@hotmail.com if you have questions.
