grand canyon backpack - November 27, 2009
South Canyon to Vasey's Paradise, 3 day Backpack. This hike is located on the North Rim in the long narrow strip of the national park known as Marble Canyon. On Fri. we will backpack 6 miles to Colorado River and will see Indian Ruins and caves. We will camp on the beach of the Colorado by Vases Paradise, a large spring that pours down a cliff that is lush with vegetation. On Saturday we will day hike along the top of the Redwall to an overlook of Redwall Cavern, a giant alcove. On Sunday we will backpack back to the rim.
