rock climb, the west slabs iii 5.5 - October 24, 2009
The WMC offers COVID conscious opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Participants of all in-person events should bring and wear face coverings, expect social distancing, and changes to our usual practices. To support contact tracing and hands-free signing of the WMC Liability Waiver, online registration is required for all in person WMC events.Mount Olympus multi-pitch (10-12) rock climb (4 to 6 hrs). Descent via West Ridge and down the left edge of the slabs to the ascent gully. The group size will be limited to 4. You must have a previous rock climbing experience and have own equipment (rope and hardware). Helmet is recommended. The climb is technically fairly easy and can be done comfortably not roped at least half of the way (most of the route is 5.4 or lower). However it is long and a bit exposed (true mountaineering experience). Registration is required and there will be a pre-climb session at Momentum climbing gym on Thursday or Friday (7pm) so call early. MSD rating is for the endurance factor not the technical difficulty.
