kayak/canoe on provo river

We are going to run the Provo River this Friday, June 11th to preview the planned trip on June 26th. We will meet at the Maverick station in Heber City at 9:30 a.m. and follow the schedule in the full description. Please advise me if you plan to participate so I'll know who to expect. Phone 301-461-0161 or email: fredgtripp@gmail.com The full description of the outing follows: Paddling Kayaks/Canoes - Friday, June 11. Join us for a Class 1/NTD paddling trip on the Provo River from below Deer Crest dam to Vivian Park this Friday, June 11. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Maverick gas station on the west side of Main Street - it is just as you enter Heber City on Route 40 from the north (from I-80) or at the put in at 10. Drive to put in below the dam and drop off gear. Run a shuttle to Vivian Park, drop off vehicles and return to put in. Start first run about 10:30 and finish at Vivian Park around noon. Stop for a picnic lunch at the park and then do another shuttle and make a second run. This second run is optional. Those making the second run will finish at Vivian Park around 3:30 or 4 p.m., load up and make a final shuttle run back to put in and then head on home. This is a Class 1/NTD section of river but has one important point going under the railroad bridge where it is critical to have your kayak/canoe lined up parallel to the bridge abutments. A safety briefing before the run will explain navigating this point on the river and also general conditions along the route.
