road bike - silver city award ride and celebration with mayor ralph becker - September 25, 2010
The WMC offers COVID conscious opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Participants of all in-person events should bring and wear face coverings, expect social distancing, and changes to our usual practices.Salt Lake City has been awarded the "Silver City" award for bicycle-friendly cities, by the League of American Bicyclists. To celebrate this, Mayor Ralph Becker and the League are organizing a short (4-mile) ride up Main Street, to the new Bicycle Transit Center at SLC's Intermodal Hub. They say "The bicycle transit center is the only one of its kind in Utah. Operated by the Utah Transit Authority and Canyon Sports, it offers bicyclists secure indoor bike storage, a repair shop and showers." There will be free stuff and music, as well as the ceremony, and a chance to win a free bike too. If you're available for this, come on out and show your support for the newer safer bicycling improvements in SLC!
