road bike: august birthday exploratory ride - August 27, 2011
This will be a ride to celebrate August birthdays. Who can come? Anyone who has a birthday in August, knows someone who has a birthday in August, would come if they had a birthday in August, or would like to come celebrate anyway even if they don't have a birthday in August. This is an exploratory ride in a fairly remote area. You will need to be feeling curious and adventurous because the drive to the starting point will take 2-2 1/2 hours. Click on the map of the meeting place and enter your starting location to get an estimate of your driving time. We'll meet out there no later than 10am, but it might be as early as 9am to beat the heat. I'll send out the details Thursday night or Friday morning. For the ride, I have a couple of options in mind: a 64 mile one and a 77 mile one. Still haven't decided for sure which one. Both of them will take us through Mountain Home to Upper Stillwater Dam and return. If you've never heard of Mountain Home (UT) or Upper Stillwater, you should come to check them out. You'll find great riding in an area you hardly ever (maybe never) get to. It just doesn't get any better than that, does it? Please let me know if you are planning to come so I can make sure we all get on the same page for this.
