day hike: provo mountains (exploratory) - February 18, 2012
I would like to visit the mountains at the back of rock canyon, probably via slide canyon up Y Mountain. This would involve aggressive elevation gain and some exploratory route finding, but my plan would be to snowshoe past the bases of Corral and Provo peaks, and either (pending upcoming avalanche conditions) attempting one of the mountains or looping around and coming down Slate Canyon. Either way should be a fun snowshoe through an area not many venture into. Registration required for planning purposes.
