road bike: wasatch wednesday: grantsville - tooele - south mountain loop - June 6, 2012

We'll do our Tuesday ride on Wednesday this week. Much better weather forecast for Wednesday than Tuesday. It won't be hot or windy, if the forecast is right. Highs around 68-70. So...here's the ride: we'll start in Grantsville and head east and south to Tooele mostly using roads with very little traffic. From Tooele, we'll go south through Stockton and on to Rush Valley where we'll turn west and north to follow Mormon Trail road on the west side of South Mountain back to Grantsville. Along the way, we'll pass Penny's Grill, an historic gas station, cafe, pool hall and watering hole (to name a few of its incarnations over the years), dating from 1948. It is located a few miles south of Stockton, and is open again as a grill after being "mothballed" for several years. It is a great place to stop for lunch if we want. If not, it makes a great restroom break (unless the bathrooms are still out of order like they were a few weeks ago); it has a few snacks available, too. This is a social ride: ride at your own pace between stops, but we'll regroup several times along the way.
