snowshoe/hike: yellow fork canyon-oquirrh mtns - March 4, 2012
Sue Frehse is organizing a dog friendly hike or snowshoe in the Oquirrh Mountains today. She will be heading up Yellow Fork canyon. Bring some form of traction as this trail can either be extremely muddy or icy depending on the weather. Horses could be on the trail. There's a decent size elk herd and lots of turkey and deer. Meet at Riverton High school at 9am. The address is 12476 South 2700 West. There is a parking lot in front of the school which is on the east side. You may want to bring some shoes to change into, especially if you are riding with someone. The loop I am thinking of is around 6.5 miles, but can be longer depending on the group. Elevation gain was minimal, about 1,500 ft.
