road bike: crazy 75 mile frontrunner ride: slc to ogden via big mountain pass - October 4, 2012

NOTE DATE CHANGE: Thursday instead of Wednesday! This crazy ride starts at the Salt Lake Frontrunner station, goes east through the city on 8th south, up Emigration canyon, over Big Mountain pass, down East Canyon to Morgan Valley and on to Mountain Green. From there, it goes west down I-84 (a short stint of about 5 miles) to the mouth of Weber canyon. (Sorry about that, but otherwise, we'd have to ride over Trapper's loop and North Ogden divide, adding about 18 more miles and another 2500 feet of elevation gain, some of it wicked steep.) From the mouth of Weber Canyon, the ride goes through Uintah and South Weber to Riverdale. Then we'll have a couple of routes to choose from to get us the rest of the way to Ogden and the Frontrunner station. Both routes allow us to avoid the Weber River Bike Pathway and its goatheads. Yay! If we want, we can stop for a (very) late lunch/early supper - Rooster's is always a good place - before hopping on Frontrunner to get us back to Salt Lake. We'll regroup on the ride from time to time to make sure everyone is okay and no one gets lost. Bring $money for Frontrunner fare and lunch/supper in case we want that. Also, bring some warm clothing in case of cold temperatures in the morning, over Big Mountain or anywhere else on the ride.
