road bike: alpine loop fall colors ride - September 28, 2012

The Alpine Loop is always a great ride and it will be even better now with FALL COLORS on display! We'll start at the Purple Turtle and climb gently north to American Fork Canyon, then up to Timpanogos Cave (regroup spot). From there, it is up, up, up to the top (let's regroup there), then down, down, down the other side past Aspen Grove and Sundance to Provo Canyon. We will quickly pick up the Provo River Parkway bike path at Vivien Park (last regroup spot) to get safely down the rest of the canyon without having to deal with traffic. Then we'll climb a very short hill to the bench where Orem sits and finish by riding gently downhill or on flat roads all the rest of the way back. No uphill whatsoever. I made sure of it. This is a social ride: ride at your own pace, but we will regroup several times to make sure everyone is okay and no one gets lost. When we get back, let's have lunch at the Purple Turtle. Bring $money for lunch; also bring warm clothing in case it is cold at the start.
