day hike - cold fusion couloir - April 27, 2013
This annual hike begins with a moderate but long approach followed by several thousand feet of cramponing up the couloir at the northwest end of the Timpanogos massiv. The top of the couloir finishes on a "false summit" and we dip down a saddle and climb to the summit of North Timp (12,441'). We meet very early to ensure stable snow conditions for both the ascent and the descent in the couloir. Parking is often limited at the Mutual Dell TH (American Fork Canyon) so we carpool where possible. If weather and/or snow conditions point to an unsafe situation we will postpone the hike and re-schedule it.
