road bike: westside frontrunner ride slc to ogden - June 25, 2013

Let's do a Westside FrontRunner ride today. We'll pedal north from Salt Lake to Ogden while it is still cool out, and ride FrontRunner for the return trip. This will be a gentle ride: while the west side of the valley is not completely DEAD FLAT, it is close to it. The difference between the highest and lowest points on the whole ride is only about 250 feet. -------- We'll begin the ride at the Salt Lake FrontRunner station, quickly pick up the Jordan River trail, then connect to the Legacy Parkway and ride it to Farmington where we'll pick up the Denver and Rio Grande Western Rail Trail. We'll ride that almost all the way to its end just west of the Ogden airport. At that point, we'll ride mostly back roads through Roy (a 3 mile exploratory section) over to the Weber River bike path which will take us the rest of the way into Ogden. Once we get to Ogden, let's have lunch at Rooster's on lower 25th Street before our return trip. Bring $money for lunch and FrontRunner fare ($5.50 full fare, $2.75 reduced or $15.00 group pass for 4). -------- As usual, this is a social ride. We'll regroup regularly along the way to make sure everyone is okay and no one gets lost. -------- We'll also follow safe and legal riding practices and good cycling etiquette. See https://www.utahbikes.org/UtahCyclingLaws and http://www.bikeleague.org/content/rules-road-0 for more information.
