road bike: new davis county bike path - October 12, 2013

On Saturday, October 12th, Davis County is holding a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the final section of their project to convert the Denver & Rio Grande railroad track into a paved multiple-use path. Once the ribbon is cut, our itinerary is to ride the newly opened section; I don't anticipate the new section to be very long, however, so our itinerary is to then ride a 31 mile loop course north to Layton for lunch. The ride to Layton is a preview of a ride coming up in a few weeks and showcases Kay's Creek Parkway, a wonderful nature preserve snuggled betwixt residential developments. This ride is over mostly easy flat-to-rolling terrain, but does include a few short climbs, the most challenging of which is Mountain Road in Fruit Heights. Plan on stopping at Rooster's in Layton for lunch. Meet Elliott (801-969-2846) at Harmon's in Farmington Station at 9:30am.
