road bike: shakespeare festival - September 20, 2013

This event is a scenic alpine ride sandwiched between two Shakespeare Festival plays. Our plan is to drive down Friday in time for a 7:30pm Shakespeare performance, ride on Saturday, and then attend another Shakespeare play Saturday evening at 7:30pm. Riders will have a choice of three ride options on Saturday: Option one is to ride up scenic Cedar Canyon as far as riders want to go, then turn around and return to Cedar City; option two is to spin up Cedar Canyon and roll over to Cedar Breaks National Monument for a 41 mile out-and-back event with 4700 feet of climbing. Option three continues past Cedar Breaks and adds a loop through Duck Creek Village for an 80 mile ride and 6100 feet of climbing. All participants should carry energy foods and two large water bottles for these rides. There are many motels and a KOA in Cedar City where participants will need to make their own reservations; and, Shakespeare Festival tickets should be purchased in advance at www.bard.org. Meet Elliott (801-969-2846) in Cedar City on Saturday morning at East Canyon Park located at 500 East Center Street (Highway 14), at 9:00am ready to ride. Please send me an email if you plan on doing this ride.
