wmc/forest service mt. olympus saddle-to-summit hike route team - July 26, 2014

The Forest Service, Police Department, and general public need our help. We've talked about it for years, and now is the opportunity to be part of the solution. The official trail ends at the saddle, and that's where many of the problems begin. The WMC will put together team that will be accompanied by a Forest Service Wilderness Crew. The WMC team will commit one day, the FS Crew will commit the entire weekend. There are many ways to support this effort. Participants need to be prepared for a challenging day, but no trail work experience is required. Our work will consists of building FS-spec cairns and placing debris in the false trails. We'll also need a couple of "trail guards," folks who will keep hikers out of the direct line of the rock movers, and some clubbers could bring up extra water. The primary meeting time will 6:30 at the trailhead, but Brett Smith will head out with a group at 5:15 a.m. and others are starting a little later. Some will take more time to get to the work area and that's ok. The crew will be easy to find. Register with Julie and we'll all coordinate our efforts.
