rock climb echo canyon - June 28, 2014

Echo canyon offers fun, bolt protected cobble climbing. It is very similar to Maple Canyon and worth the drive. Most routes at lower and upper Clint Eastwood wall are accessible with a short walk off for top rope. Don't let Mt Project dissuade you, there are many new routes from 5.6 through 5.10 that were placed within the last couple months. All bolts and anchors are new and close together. This is a great place to learn to lead. PS, there is a fire pit at the crag great for cooking brats and drinking suds. Let's make a day of it. Directions: Travel east on I-80 past Park City and toward Evanston. After Echo Reservoir take the first off-ramp exit (exit 169) and cross north under I-80 to the frontage road (Echo Canyon Road) on the north side of the freeway. Look for my gray Outback about 2.5 miles east up Echo Canyon Road.
