day hike - provo peak - June 8, 2014

At 11,068 ft with 3428 ft of prominence, Provo Peak and its neighbor, East Provo Peak, are perhaps the most obscure and least visited of the Wasatch Eleveners. (The last time I climbed Provo Peak, the summit register hadn't been signed in three weeks and that was in August.) Owing to a major avalanche path blocking the Squaw Peak Road, we start at the Y Mountain trail head. Following a 4.5 mile approach, we will ascend the west ridge of Provo Peak and then hopefully tag East Provo Peak as well. Please RSVP.
