exploratory hike to kimberly peak and long mountain -- western uintas - August 1, 2015
We will attempt to summit Kimberly Peak (11,250 ft.) and Long Mountain (11,342 ft) in the Smith and Moorehouse Basin starting from the Crystal Trailhead off Mirror Lake Highway (SR-150). Both summits will have class 3 scrambling. An early start will be needed to avoid afternoon thunderstorms. ** Note the starting location and time. ** Participants will need to make their own driving arrangements as the organizer will be staying in the Kamas area the night before. There is a $6 entrance fee to park along Mirror Lake Highway.
