snowshoe - west uintas - February 15, 2015

This trip was planned for Dec. 28, but stormy weather prompted us to go to Dog Lake instead. We will try again. The west part of the Uintas offers lots of area to explore. I am suggesting that we travel on the Beaver Creek/Plantation/Taylor Fork trails to a high point at about 8700 feet. I estimate that the round trip distance is about 6 miles and elevation gain of 1300 feet. Great forest scenery and views of the Wasatch to the west. Remember the 10 Es and snow safety equipment. The drive to the trailhead is about 1.5 hours. There is a MLH fee of $6.00 per vehicle. Those carpooling should plan to help with driving expenses. Energetic dogs and teenagers are welcome. I also suggest that we stop in Kamas or Park City for some food on the way back. Because of the drive distance and the potential to ski a long way, the trip will take most of the day. Lets plan to meet at 8:00 am for a 8:15 departure. If the weather is not good, we will alter the plan and stay local.
