canyoneering self rescue exercise
One of the important basic abilities when you are playing on rope is the ability to be able to perform a most basic self rescue- whether its to free your hair or something else that has gotten into your rappel device and jammed it, or perhaps you ran onto a knot on rope, and now you need to be able to go back up rope to clear the obstruction, and then be able to resume your rappel to the ground. Can only handle a limited number of people at once, this is a hands on exercise, not just theory, and it takes some time and effort. If there is some demand we will likely repeat this exercise. It will be held next week, on wednesday night, starting at 6 pm, please sign up by sending me an email to register, so I can control the group size. You will need full canyon gear- harness, rappel device and biner, and helmet. To accomplish this task you will need two rope grabs, some slings and prusicks, and 3 more locking carabiners- so bring these if you have them. If you don't have them you can borrow some for the exercise: seeing different options used will help you to decide what you want or need to get to add to your personal canyoneering gear. This activity is now full. We will likely do it again in another month or two.
