rock climb - the valley of zion - north stansbury mts - September 17, 2016

Temperatures and lowering and mosquitoes are abating (but still bring bug spray). Valley of Zion is located at the far North end of the Stansbury range just off of I80. This area offers some fantastic climbs on limestone of good quality. (Although there is some garbage and shells from shooters in the parking area, this isn't as popular a place to target practice as Lone Rock. The higher areas aren't in the line of fire if that is an issue.) Blob's Your Uncle: Colorful rock right in front of the parking area. A dozen sport routes 5.9 and 5.10. A couple cool-looking multi-pitches go all the way to the top. Blob's Your Aunt: Overlooking Bonneville Salt Flats, this limestone crag resembles Wasatch's Hellgate in upper Little Cottonwood Canyon in overall rock quality and has a dozen sport routes 5.easy to 5.10. All participants must wear a helmet.
