day hike: mt. olympus from 5700 s. wasatch boulevard - April 9, 2017

Hike Mt. Olympus from the standard trailhead on Wasatch Blvd at about 5700 S. Bring plenty of water and snacks. Trekking poles are a good idea. In early spring, the trail can be wet, muddy, icy and slick, so footwear with good traction, gaiters and traction devices may be useful. Remember to bring the rest of your 10 E's. The last few hundreds of vertical feet to the summit are exposed. The quartzite rock can be slick when wet or icy. If it rains or snows, or the route is in poor condition, we will do something else in the area. This hike takes 6 hours round trip at a brisk moderate pace with short breaks. We may see glacial lilies and other early wildflowers, possibly mountain goats from the summit. Let's leave the dogs at home.
