rock climb and trail maintainance - red rock wall - bcc - July 30, 2017

This scenic wall in Big Cottonwood Canyon offers sport climbing on red limestone edges. A total of ten sport routes from 5.8 to 5.11. And the steep (semi strenuous approach) means you are more likely to see hawks and elk than other people here. About 9 miles up BCC, park on the right hand side at the first overflow for winter parking at the "Doughnut Falls" area. Walk back down canyon, crossing the road to a thick group of pines on the north side of the canyon road. Look for a small red and white checked highway sign at the start of the trail (about 75 yards from parking). As we hike up, we will work on replacing any worn hand lines with a retired climbing rope and maybe work on defining the trail more with rocks. All participants must wear a helmet. Please email or text me so I can anticipate your attendance.
