hike- mount aire, millcreek canyon - May 31, 2021

Memorial Day is usually a great time to hike Mount Aire. The trail should be snow free, the aspens should be starting to show new leaves, and some flowers should be in bloom. Because the Millcreek Canyon road is closed above the Maple Cove picnic area, visitors are unable to drive to the Mount Aire trailhead at Elbow Fork. This will be a morning - afternoon hike. We will start the hike at the Burch Hollow trailhead and hike on the Pipeline trail to Elbow Fork. We will continue the hike by traveling on the Mount Aire trail to the pass and the Mount Aire summit. The Pipeline and Mount Aire trails is are established. The Mount Aire trail has some steep sections. It is probably that we will encounter mud just below the Mount Aire pass. The 8 mile distance is for round trip. While staging for the hike and other times when we are not social distancing, I recommend that we wear masks. Limit of 10 participants.
