hike - butler fork to dog lake milll d north loop - October 3, 2021

Butler Fork and Mill D North areas are great places to see colorful trees during autumn. The hike will begin at the Butler Fork trailhead in Big Cottonwood Canyon. We will hike on the the Butler Fork east branch to Dog Lake. From Dog Lake, we will hike on the rerouted Dog Lake trail to the Mill D North Y junction. From the Y Junction, we will travel on the Desolation Lake trail about 0.8 miles to the junction with the Dog to Deso trail. We will hike on the Dog to Deso trail to Dog Lake. We will then return to the Butler Fork trailhead by hiking on the Butler Fork east branch trail. The hike distance is estimated to be about 7.5 miles. WMC volunteers helped Build the Dog Lake reroute and the Dog to Deso trails. The hike is rated NTD because we will be traveling on maintained trails.
