road bike: mid-morning short exercise ride: holladay boot loop - June 22, 2022

This is a series of short morning rides to get some exercise without spending a lot of time doing it. Todays' ride is one I call 'Holladay Boot loop.' You'll see why if you take a look at the map. The ride is about 20 miles with about 450 feet of elevation gain. We will ride this one clockwise, so we do the top part of the boot first (the toe is in Holladay), and sole and left side on the way back (the heel is in Murray). There will be a couple of places on the ride that will require extra care. We ride on 700 E for about one block and need to cross it without a light (about 4300 S). We will just have to make sure we wait until it is safe to do it. Also, we ride on 900 E for about a mile and a half. It can have a fair amount of traffic, but it does have a generous shoulder for us to ride on. We will ride at an average pace of about 10-13 mph, so not very fast. We might ride the flats at 13-16+ mph, but the overall average pace will be in the 10-13mph range. Let's meet at 9:45AM and start riding at 10:00. I hope you can join us!
