road bike: mid-morning short exercise ride: zoo-u-avenues, too - June 24, 2022

This is a series of short morning rides to get some exercise without spending a lot of time doing it. Let's do my 'Zoo-U-Avenues, Too' ride today. Starting in SSL, the route heads east and north past the Zoo, through the University and Federal Heights to 4th Ave, then down to 800 E and through Liberty park on the way back. This is a nice ride that I think you will enjoy. About 17 miles with about 930 feet of elevation gain. Some good exercise without being too difficult. The biggest challenge is climbing the hill through Bonneville Golf course (about a 6% grade). Then we get a nice downhill past the zoo before the next climb. Once we get to Fort Douglas, we have it made. Downhill or flat the rest of the way. We will ride at an average pace of about 10-13 mph, so not very fast. We might ride the flats at 13-16+ mph, but the overall average pace will be in the 10-13mph range. Let's meet at 9:45am and start riding at 10:00. It should be in the low 70s by then. Mostly sunny, maybe a little bit of wind. Some rain possible but not likely. We will look at the skies in the morning, but we should have good riding conditions. I hope you can join us!
