road bike: mid-morning short exercise ride: gilmer-holladay loop - June 3, 2022

This is a series of short morning rides to get some exercise without spending a lot of time doing it. Today's ride will be about 20 miles with about 760 feet of elevation gain. This is mostly the ride I posted on May 22, but it has a few tweaks that I hope will improve it a bit. It's a nice ride that is worth doing again. It starts in South Salt Lake and heads north using the McClelland trail much of the way to reach Gilmer Drive, which it climbs to 1500 E. It then heads south and east (mainly on 1500 E, 1700 E and Parley's trail) until it reaches 2300 E, which it follows south all the way to Holladay. It meanders mostly west in the Holladay area to 1100 E, which it uses most of the way back. We will ride at a nice, average pace of about 10-13 mph. We might ride the flats at 13-16+ mph some of the time, but the overall average pace will be in the 10-13mph range. Temperatures should be pretty pleasant for riding by about 9:30am, so we will meet then and depart on the ride at 9:45am. I hope you can join us.
