last minute backpack along west rim trail - zion national park - March 26, 2022
I have a spot at Campsite 6 along the West Rim Trail in Zion National Park. This site is one of the premier campsites along the trail as it looks down on the Guardian Angels and the canyons that enter the Subway in the Kolob Terrace area. Plan for a fun day of hiking on Saturday and a somewhat early start. We plan to bag Gunsight Point along our travels which is about a mile off trail and looks into Gunsight Canyon and Behumian Canyon. This is an easy peak with no scrambling involved, but it is exploratory. We will pack out Sunday morning after our coffee and sunrise, and hike back to the trailhead at the Grotto. Registration required as we will need to figure out some easy logistics. Mileage and vertical gain are a close estimate.
