nordic ski tour: ski or snowshoe- kings peak tour preview - March 22, 2023
This is a track-setting event for the upcoming Kings Peak Tour on April 7th/8th. The goal is to reach Elkhorn Crossing in the Henrys Fork drainage (with a view of Kings Peak at the Upper Basin) We usually pick a 'bluebird' day, so the tour is often more uplifting than the Kings Peak Tour day! It's quiet & mellow- go as far as you like, return to the parking area and drive home. The tour route does not go on or under avalanche terrain. Beacon, shovel, and probe are not required. You might consider this one, skip the real Kings Tour (April 7th/8th), & hang up your skis or snowshoes for the season. Meeting time in the Salt Lake area will be 5:45 am with a prompt 6:00 am departure. Carpooling is not available, but we will form a caravan.
