hike - beartrap fork - October 8, 2023

Beartrap Fork is a side drainage on the north side of Big Cottonwood Canyon. A steep trail goes up the fork and junctions with the Wasatch Crest trail ( Great Western Trail). Near that junction, there is a scenic overlook of Desolation Lake. Throughout the hike there will be good views of the Big Cottonwood Canyon area. Hopefully the aspen trees will have colorful gold leaves. The listed hike distance is for round trip. I indicated a Moderate hike pace, but I will hike Slow going down. Also traction devices may be helpful if there is early snow cover. If planning to attend, please send an email so that I will look out for you.
