winter mountaineering - toledo peak via west ridge - February 7, 2026
Required Gear. Flotation: Snowshoes or Skis/Splitboard (essential for the approach and the slushy descent). Traction: Mountaineering-style Crampons (not just Micro-spikes) and a Mountaineering Ice Axe. Safety: Climbing Helmet, Harness, and a locking carabiner. Avalanche Gear: Beacon, Shovel, and Probe (and the knowledge to use them).
