trail running - day 1 of vert-tober! mountain running series: mt. superior - October 1, 2026
Beyond Cardiff Pass, expect steep, loose, and unmaintained terrain, including scree, routefinding, and sections of Class 2-3 scrambling.
We will stay together as a group, but this outing requires a fast pace. We must be back to the established trail at Cardiff Pass by 6:30PM and will turn around together as necessary to meet that cutoff. Participants should be comfortable moving quickly uphill and efficiently through steep, loose terrain and Class 2-3 scrambling.
A headlamp and spare batteries or backup light are required. Bring sufficient water and nutrition, a first aid kit, and appropriate layers for changing mountain conditions.
This outing is conditions-dependent and may be modified or canceled if snow, ice, or other conditions make the scrambling terrain unsafe.
Mountain Running Series outings are for people interested in building fitness, durability, and community for trail races, peakbagging, fastpacking, scrambling, mountaineering, etc. Expect steady movement, limited breaks, and a mix of running and fast hiking depending on terrain. These are not beginner/no-drop social runs unless specifically stated.
