Alpine Ski Tour: Intro to Backcountry - Uintas
On Saturday, we did some nice low angle touring near the sheep corral in the Wolf Creek area. We covered the AIARE departure check, discussed gear, proper skinning techniques, beacon checks, and overall etiquette and safety in the backcountry. After the outing we enjoyed some food at Mirror Lake Diner where we did a debrief, shared stories, and talked about other resources for avalanche/backcountry education.
