rock climb for kids with parents and grandparents - July 19, 2026
Are you looking to introduce your kids to the wonderful world of climbing and outdoor adventure? We are planning a special, kid-friendly day on the rock and would love for other like-minded families to join us! Whether your kids are brand new to the sport or already love scrambling on rocks, this day is all about creating a safe, supportive, and memorable experience for the little ones.
Where We'll Be:
We have selected the perfect, ultra-kid-friendly spot: the rock right by the Dogwood Picnic Area in Big Cottonwood Canyon. This location is fantastic for kids because it features a very short, easy walk from the parking area directly to the climbing routes-no long, tiring approach hikes for little legs!
Time:
We will be there starting at 9:00 AM to set up and make the most of the morning.
Parking:
You can park your car directly in the main parking lot of the picnic area ($10) or along the road nearby.
Base Camp:
To ensure maximum comfort for the kids and families, we may reserve or take over a picnic site if necessary. This will give us a flat, comfortable staging area for kid-friendly games, snacks, and resting between climbs.
Gear & Equipment:
We are starting simple to keep things highly collaborative and focused on a shared, supportive experience at the base of the route.
We will have climbing equipment available for use, but you are more than welcome (and highly encouraged) to bring your own family gear.
SAFETY FIRST:
Please note that HELMETS ARE ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY for all participants (both kids and adults) hanging out near the rock.
How to Join:
Please email me ahead of time to let us know! We want to make sure we have an accurate headcount so we don't miss you.
