rock climb: echo canyon - bear hollow crags (eastern summit county) - May 23, 2026

DUE TO LACK OF PARTICIPANTS, THIS ACTIVITY HAS BEEN CANCELED. I WILL BE VOLUNTEERING AT PAUL'S INTRO TO CLIMBING CLINIC IN BCC.

The routes in Echo Canyon offer cobble (conglomerate), sport, single pitch climbing. It is similar rock to Maple Canyon. Pockets, slopers, crimps and jugs yield highly enjoyable climbing. Routes are 5.easy to 5.12 and mostly 5.9 and 5.10.

This area is loved by many outdoor enthusiasts and therefore, I plan to spend the first 30 minutes bagging trash in the area. Please arrive in time and with gloves to help in this effort.

The three crags of Bear Hollow Canyon are Bear Hollow Wall, Clint Eastwood Wall, and Soul Train Wall. With three walls, we are able to spread out and chase both sun and shade. All walls have short approaches. The approach to Soul Train Wall is best done with harness on and a PAS ready to attach.

Please bring shoes, harness, and helmet. Please bring a belay device (brake assist preferred) if you plan to belay, quick draws if you plan to lead, and PAS if you plan to clean anchors. Please bring a climbing rope if you have one. I have two club ropes with anchor kits.

Join us after at Red Rock Brewery in Kimball Junction Park City for food, drink, and social hour.

Please RSVP via EMAIL so I can anticipate your participation and manage number of participants. Please email me if you need a Google Pin of the location.

From I-80 in eastern Summit County, take exit 169 and drive east on Echo Canyon Road for 2.7 miles to a large pullout on the left (north) lined with large boulders and a sign reading "Death's Rock".
