dia de los muertos 5k run - November 1, 2026

Come out and support our friends at the Wasatch Trail Collective for their Dia de los muertos 5k! This is a super fun event (last year a high school mariachi group sent us off) supporting a fantastic local organization. Let me know if you are planning to go so we can meet. Note that this is NOT a timed race but a community 5k. Sign up is $20 (plus tax and processing fees) here: https://runsignup.com/Race/UT/SouthSaltLake/DiaDeLosMuertos5kRunAndWalk More information about the event, taken from their website: The Wasatch Trails Collective (WTC) invites you to our third annual Da de los Muertos 5K Run & Walk on November 1st at the Tracy Aviary's Nature Center at Pia Okwai. The 5K starts at 10 A.M. with post-race festivities happening until 2 P.M. This vibrant event celebrates culture and community while raising funds for the Salt Lake Community Bail Fund (SLCBF). SLCBF posts bail for individuals in need in Salt Lake County. They work against the unjust money bail system that criminalizes poverty and disproportionately harms communities of color. Since December 2025, SLCBF has expanded their support to include posting immigration bonds for detained individuals and providing support for court and immigration hearings & appointments. We believe that SLCBF's mission and work are crucial for supporting our immigrant community and are honored to partner with them this year! 100% of all race proceeds will go directly to SLCBF, as well as any additional donations made on this platform. This family-friendly event is open to all whether you sign up as a participant, come cheer on your loved ones, or join for the post-race festivities. The route is accessible for all abilities, including those who use wheels (e.g., strollers, wheelchairs, walkers). If you have any specific accessibility needs or questions, please feel free to reach out. We look forward to seeing you there!
