rock climb - vedauwoo / snowy range - laramie, wy - September 11, 2026
Looking for some funky crack climbing to round out your season? Vedauwoo is a half-hour East of Laramie, WY and offers a high concentration of old-school granite crack at it's finest! We'll plan to hop on trad climbs in the 5.6 to 5.10 range, though grades at the Voo may feel awkward and tough until you get a feel for the local style - especially if you're taking on the ultra-classic offwidth offerings. That said - bring your hand-jammies, knee pads, and a willingness to try hard with some new techniques!
If we're wanting something more adventurous - the Snowy Range to the West of Laramie offers long alpine routes on a diamond of quartzite slab, overlooking a beautiful set of lakes and a modest approach. I would love to spend a day here if we have a capable party to do so!
This trip is best suited for more advanced climbers and those comfortable with negotiating complex terrain. Most of the best lines are not top-rope friendly. Leaders often belay from above, then walk to a rap station. We'll be sure to hop into Laramie one or two nights to see the sights and sample the surprisingly good local food.
I plan on staying in Laramie after (and possibly before) getting ready for a climbing course in Boulder the following week - so if you want to be around longer than the weekend, just let me know!
