kayaking- ocean kayaking along the na pali coast line. kauai - February 2, 2027

This trip will be expensive and strenuous. Planning Event Kayaking to Miloli'i Beach on Kauai is a premier, challenging adventure along the Na Pali coast, typically accessible only by boat or kayak during summer months (May 15-Sept 7). Key Information for Miloli'i Beach KayakingSeasonality: Kayaking the Na Pali coast is generally limited to summer (May 15th to Sept 7th) due to winter swells that can reach 50 feet.Access: Landing is allowed only during these summer months; you must use the established channel through the reef.Difficulty: This is a strenuous trip, requiring a high level of physical fitness, as you will be paddling roughly 5-7 hours, often in open ocean conditions with potential for high winds.Camping: Overnight camping is possible but requires camping permits from the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR).What to ExpectScenic Highlights: You will paddle beneath the dramatic cliffs of the Na Pali coast.Wildlife: Potential sightings include dolphins and green sea turtles.Amenities: Miloli'i features a beach, a primitive public bathroom, and cold showers.Important Safety Note: Commercial tours often advise caution against seasickness and advise that this is not a beginner-friendly trip. Guided segment from Haena to Kalalau. Plan to spend 2 nights camping at Kalalau. Possible -would like to swim the 100 to 200 feet to visit Honopu Beach if possible and if the conditions are ideal. Guided segment from Kalalau to Milolii. Plan to spend would 3 nights on the beach. Pick up at Polihale. Spend 1 night there. Need to get camp reservations 90 days out. Possible to shorten the nights at Kalalau but since it is so rare to be able to visit Milolii, I would like to spend some time there. I know that Kayaks are not able to land at Nu'alolo Kai but looking into taking a guide trip that has a permit to visit. Additionally, Plan to rent the Double Zest kayak and fuel. Maybe other items. Plan to book a maverick trip with Kayak Kauai. Each guided leg is about $380 per 8 person group. Cost of renting a kayak is $350 for the week. Everyone will be responsible for their own Cost of food, flight, lodging, camping, transportation, and all rental gear. Estimate about $2,000 to $3,000 per person. This planning is for a year in advance due to logistics and costs. Tentatively, this will happen in July 2027. For all interested, require a $300 deposit per person (non refundable) by February 2027 to book the guided tour and to get it confirmed to focus on the camping reservations.
